Preseason Meeting Recap

Hello Bobcat Lacrosse families,

If you missed our first meeting on Thursday 1/31/19, here is a recap of the information that was discussed. 

 

Checklist leading up to the first day of tryouts. 

  • Fill out & submit the Google Form, provide information to make our team order. (Please complete  & submit before 2/4/19) 
  • Lacrosse tryouts begin on Saturday March 16th (time TBA)  
  • Tryout forms need to be completed and submitted to the main office by March 4th. Click here to access the High School Athletics page. SWHS Athletics Forms & Resources Page.
  • Create a player & parent profile and  Register for the 2019 Season on the Lacrosse Home page website.
  • $300 Fundraising Check due by March 16th (see detailed info below). Please make checks payable to the South Windsor High School Boys Lacrosse Booster Club. (Checks can be mailed to our SWHS Lacrosse Booster Club Treasurer: Sue Bagcal 275 Benedict Drive South Windsor Ct, 06074, or brought to the first day of tryouts) 
  • Check our SWHS Lacrosse Homepage, the SWHS Daily Announcements Page,  or our Team Twitter account for Lacrosse Team news & schedule changes/updates leading up to and during the season.   

Things to bring for the 1st day of Tryouts

  • Lacrosse Equipment, stick (Freshman & Sophomores provide their own White Helmet
  • Practice Uniform (Freshman will be issued a practice reversible & short)
  • Lock for your locker
  • Sneaker & Cleats
  • Mouthpiece (provided by Booster Club)

Typical Game/Practice Schedule 

  • Practices are typically M-F 3:30pm after school & Saturday mornings if there is not a game. Practices over April vacation will be in the mornings. 
  • Players who remain on campus after school and prior to practice, are expected to get extra help with a teacher, or attend & sign in to the Spring Sports Study Hall in the cafeteria. 
  • SWHS provides transportation to and from games and scrimmages. But the SWHS Athletics Alternate Transportation Form will need to be filled out prior to the game if a parent is providing transportation.
  • The Game schedule can be found (schedule will post after 2/2/19) on the CIAC website with start times and bus departure times.  

Fundraising Information

  • Our team hosts and participates in a variety of events that include: "The American Cancer Society Coaches for Cancer Game", "Run 4 Robin", "Bobcat Blast", "End of the Season Awards Night", "Bobcats Builders K12 Program".
  • Our Booster Club also provides a variety of miscellaneous items that include tee shirts, locker name plates for each player. These items are above and beyond what is provided by SWHS. 
  • In order for our Booster Club to continue to provide this experience, each player is expected to raise $300. It will be due on 3/16/19 by selling Business Advertisement Space or Personal Family Messages in our 2019 LACROSSE ADVERTISEMENT BOOK. (see an example of our 2018 Ad Book)

  • Contact Coach Giordano at   to obtain a hard copy of the 2018 Ad Book to help support your sales effort and bring to the local businesses to show what the finished product will look like.
  • When you complete an Business Ad sale or Family Message sale make sure to do the following: 
    • confirm artwork/message has been emailed to Coach Giordano at
    • confirm that a check has been sent to Booster Club Treasurer,  Sue Bagcal 275 Benedict Drive South Windsor Ct, 06074
    • Publish Business Sales on the Google Doc so we are not attempting to sell to a business that has already purchased an Advertisement. 
  • The Ad booklet will be published by Minuteman Printing Press in Hartford and Business Ad will be displayed in full color and available to our fans at all Home Games. 
  • To meet our publishing deadline, all Ad sales & Personal Message sales need to be submitted before 3/20/19
